As-Saaffaat 37:1
بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ وَٱلصَّٰٓفَّٰتِ صَفًّۭا1
By those [angels] lined up in rows
Wassaaaffaati saffaa
بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ
As-Saaffaat 37:2
فَٱلزَّٰجِرَٰتِ زَجْرًۭا2
And those who drive [the clouds]
Fazzaajiraati zajraa
As-Saaffaat 37:3
فَٱلتَّٰلِيَٰتِ ذِكْرًا3
And those who recite the message,
Fattaaliyaati Zikra
As-Saaffaat 37:4
إِنَّ إِلَٰهَكُمْ لَوَٰحِدٌۭ4
Indeed, your God is One,
Inna Illaahakum la Waahid
As-Saaffaat 37:5
رَّبُّ ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ وَمَا بَيْنَهُمَا وَرَبُّ ٱلْمَشَٰرِقِ5
Lord of the heavens and the earth and that between them and Lord of the sunrises.
Rabbus samaawaati wal ardi wa maa bainahumaa wa Rabbul mashaariq
As-Saaffaat 37:6
إِنَّا زَيَّنَّا ٱلسَّمَآءَ ٱلدُّنْيَا بِزِينَةٍ ٱلْكَوَاكِبِ6
Indeed, We have adorned the nearest heaven with an adornment of stars
Innaa zaiyannas samaaa 'ad dunyaa bizeenatinil kawaakib
As-Saaffaat 37:7
وَحِفْظًۭا مِّن كُلِّ شَيْطَٰنٍۢ مَّارِدٍۢ7
And as protection against every rebellious devil
Wa hifzam min kulli Shaitaanim maarid
As-Saaffaat 37:8
لَّا يَسَّمَّعُونَ إِلَى ٱلْمَلَإِ ٱلْأَعْلَىٰ وَيُقْذَفُونَ مِن كُلِّ جَانِبٍۢ8
[So] they may not listen to the exalted assembly [of angels] and are pelted from every side,
Laa yassamma 'oona ilal mala il a'alaa wa yuqzafoona min kulli jaanib
As-Saaffaat 37:9
دُحُورًۭا ۖ وَلَهُمْ عَذَابٌۭ وَاصِبٌ9
Repelled; and for them is a constant punishment,
Duhooranw wa lahum 'azaabunw waasib
As-Saaffaat 37:10
إِلَّا مَنْ خَطِفَ ٱلْخَطْفَةَ فَأَتْبَعَهُۥ شِهَابٌۭ ثَاقِبٌۭ10
Except one who snatches [some words] by theft, but they are pursued by a burning flame, piercing [in brightness].
Illaa man khatifal khatfata fa atba'ahoo shihaabun saaqib
As-Saaffaat 37:11
فَٱسْتَفْتِهِمْ أَهُمْ أَشَدُّ خَلْقًا أَم مَّنْ خَلَقْنَآ ۚ إِنَّا خَلَقْنَٰهُم مِّن طِينٍۢ لَّازِبٍۭ11
Then inquire of them, [O Muhammad], "Are they a stronger [or more difficult] creation or those [others] We have created?" Indeed, We created men from sticky clay.
Fastaftihim ahum ashaddu khalqan am man khalaqnaa; innaa khalaqnaahum min teenil laazib
As-Saaffaat 37:12
بَلْ عَجِبْتَ وَيَسْخَرُونَ12
But you wonder, while they mock,
Bal'ajibta wa yaskharoon
As-Saaffaat 37:13
وَإِذَا ذُكِّرُوا۟ لَا يَذْكُرُونَ13
And when they are reminded, they remember not.
Wa izaa zukkiroo laa yazkuroon
As-Saaffaat 37:14
وَإِذَا رَأَوْا۟ ءَايَةًۭ يَسْتَسْخِرُونَ14
And when they see a sign, they ridicule
Wa izaa ra aw Aayatinw yastaskhiroon
As-Saaffaat 37:15
وَقَالُوٓا۟ إِنْ هَٰذَآ إِلَّا سِحْرٌۭ مُّبِينٌ15
And say, "This is not but obvious magic.
Wa qaalooo in haazaa illaa sihrum mubeen
As-Saaffaat 37:16
أَءِذَا مِتْنَا وَكُنَّا تُرَابًۭا وَعِظَٰمًا أَءِنَّا لَمَبْعُوثُونَ16
When we have died and become dust and bones, are we indeed to be resurrected?
'A-izaa mitnaa wa kunnaa turaabanw wa 'izaaman 'ainnaa lamab'oosoon
As-Saaffaat 37:17
أَوَءَابَآؤُنَا ٱلْأَوَّلُونَ17
And our forefathers [as well]?"
Awa aabaa'unal awwaloon
As-Saaffaat 37:18
قُلْ نَعَمْ وَأَنتُمْ دَٰخِرُونَ18
Say, "Yes, and you will be [rendered] contemptible."
Qul na'am wa antum daakhiroon
As-Saaffaat 37:19
فَإِنَّمَا هِىَ زَجْرَةٌۭ وَٰحِدَةٌۭ فَإِذَا هُمْ يَنظُرُونَ19
It will be only one shout, and at once they will be observing.
Fa innamaa hiya zajra tunw waahidatun fa izaa hum yanzuroon
As-Saaffaat 37:20
وَقَالُوا۟ يَٰوَيْلَنَا هَٰذَا يَوْمُ ٱلدِّينِ20
They will say, "O woe to us! This is the Day of Recompense."
Qa qaaloo yaa wailanaa haazaa Yawmud-Deen
As-Saaffaat 37:21
هَٰذَا يَوْمُ ٱلْفَصْلِ ٱلَّذِى كُنتُم بِهِۦ تُكَذِّبُونَ21
[They will be told], "This is the Day of Judgement which you used to deny."
Haazaa Yawmul Faslil lazee kuntum bihee tukaziboon
As-Saaffaat 37:22
۞ ٱحْشُرُوا۟ ٱلَّذِينَ ظَلَمُوا۟ وَأَزْوَٰجَهُمْ وَمَا كَانُوا۟ يَعْبُدُونَ22
[The angels will be ordered], "Gather those who committed wrong, their kinds, and what they used to worship
Uhshurul lazeena zalamoo wa azwaajahum wa maa kaanoo ya'budoon
As-Saaffaat 37:23
مِن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ فَٱهْدُوهُمْ إِلَىٰ صِرَٰطِ ٱلْجَحِيمِ23
Other than Allah, and guide them to the path of Hellfire
Min doonil laahi fahdoohum ilaa siraatil Jaheem
As-Saaffaat 37:24
وَقِفُوهُمْ ۖ إِنَّهُم مَّسْـُٔولُونَ24
And stop them; indeed, they are to be questioned."
Wa qifoohum innahum mas'ooloon
As-Saaffaat 37:25
مَا لَكُمْ لَا تَنَاصَرُونَ25
[They will be asked], "What is [wrong] with you? Why do you not help each other?"
Maa lakum laa tanaasaroon
As-Saaffaat 37:26
بَلْ هُمُ ٱلْيَوْمَ مُسْتَسْلِمُونَ26
But they, that Day, are in surrender.
Bal humul Yawma mustaslimoon
As-Saaffaat 37:27
وَأَقْبَلَ بَعْضُهُمْ عَلَىٰ بَعْضٍۢ يَتَسَآءَلُونَ27
And they will approach one another blaming each other.
Wa aqbala ba'duhum 'alaa ba'diny yatasaaa'aloon
As-Saaffaat 37:28
قَالُوٓا۟ إِنَّكُمْ كُنتُمْ تَأْتُونَنَا عَنِ ٱلْيَمِينِ28
They will say, "Indeed, you used to come at us from the right."
Qaalooo innakum kuntum taatoonanaa 'anil yameen
As-Saaffaat 37:29
قَالُوا۟ بَل لَّمْ تَكُونُوا۟ مُؤْمِنِينَ29
The oppressors will say, "Rather, you [yourselves] were not believers,
Qaaloo bal lam takoonoo mu'mineen
As-Saaffaat 37:30
وَمَا كَانَ لَنَا عَلَيْكُم مِّن سُلْطَٰنٍۭ ۖ بَلْ كُنتُمْ قَوْمًۭا طَٰغِينَ30
And we had over you no authority, but you were a transgressing people.
Wa maa kaana lanaa 'alaikum min sultaanim bal kuntum qawman taagheen
As-Saaffaat 37:31
فَحَقَّ عَلَيْنَا قَوْلُ رَبِّنَآ ۖ إِنَّا لَذَآئِقُونَ31
So the word of our Lord has come into effect upon us; indeed, we will taste [punishment].
Fahaqqa 'alainaa qawlu Rabbinaaa innaa lazaaa'iqoon
As-Saaffaat 37:32
فَأَغْوَيْنَٰكُمْ إِنَّا كُنَّا غَٰوِينَ32
And we led you to deviation; indeed, we were deviators."
Fa aghwainaakum innaa kunnaa ghaaween
As-Saaffaat 37:33
فَإِنَّهُمْ يَوْمَئِذٍۢ فِى ٱلْعَذَابِ مُشْتَرِكُونَ33
So indeed they, that Day, will be sharing in the punishment.
Fa innahum Yawma'izin fil'azaabi mushtarikoon
As-Saaffaat 37:34
إِنَّا كَذَٰلِكَ نَفْعَلُ بِٱلْمُجْرِمِينَ34
Indeed, that is how We deal with the criminals.
Innaa kazaalika naf'alu bil mujrimeen
As-Saaffaat 37:35
إِنَّهُمْ كَانُوٓا۟ إِذَا قِيلَ لَهُمْ لَآ إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا ٱللَّهُ يَسْتَكْبِرُونَ35
Indeed they, when it was said to them, "There is no deity but Allah," were arrogant
Innahum kaanooo izaa qeela lahum laaa ilaaha illal laahu yastakbiroon
As-Saaffaat 37:36
وَيَقُولُونَ أَئِنَّا لَتَارِكُوٓا۟ ءَالِهَتِنَا لِشَاعِرٍۢ مَّجْنُونٍۭ36
And were saying, "Are we to leave our gods for a mad poet?"
Wa yaqooloona a'innaa lataarikooo aalihatinaa lishaa'irim majnoon
As-Saaffaat 37:37
بَلْ جَآءَ بِٱلْحَقِّ وَصَدَّقَ ٱلْمُرْسَلِينَ37
Rather, the Prophet has come with the truth and confirmed the [previous] messengers.
bal jaaa'a bilhaqqi wa saddaqal mursaleen
As-Saaffaat 37:38
إِنَّكُمْ لَذَآئِقُوا۟ ٱلْعَذَابِ ٱلْأَلِيمِ38
Indeed, you [disbelievers] will be tasters of the painful punishment,
Innakum lazaaa'iqul 'azaabil aleem
As-Saaffaat 37:39
وَمَا تُجْزَوْنَ إِلَّا مَا كُنتُمْ تَعْمَلُونَ39
And you will not be recompensed except for what you used to do -
Wa maa tujzawna illaa maa kuntum ta'maloon
As-Saaffaat 37:40
إِلَّا عِبَادَ ٱللَّهِ ٱلْمُخْلَصِينَ40
But not the chosen servants of Allah.
Illaa 'ibaadal laahil mukhlaseen
As-Saaffaat 37:41
أُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ لَهُمْ رِزْقٌۭ مَّعْلُومٌۭ41
Those will have a provision determined -
Ulaaa'ika lahum rizqum ma'loom
As-Saaffaat 37:42
فَوَٰكِهُ ۖ وَهُم مُّكْرَمُونَ42
Fruits; and they will be honored
Fa waakihu wa hum mukramoon
As-Saaffaat 37:43
فِى جَنَّٰتِ ٱلنَّعِيمِ43
In gardens of pleasure
Fee jannaatin Na'eem
As-Saaffaat 37:44
عَلَىٰ سُرُرٍۢ مُّتَقَٰبِلِينَ44
On thrones facing one another.
'Alaa sururim mutaqaa bileen
As-Saaffaat 37:45
يُطَافُ عَلَيْهِم بِكَأْسٍۢ مِّن مَّعِينٍۭ45
There will be circulated among them a cup [of wine] from a flowing spring,
Yutaafu 'alaihim bikaasim mim ma'een
As-Saaffaat 37:46
بَيْضَآءَ لَذَّةٍۢ لِّلشَّٰرِبِينَ46
White and delicious to the drinkers;
Baidaaa'a laz zatil lish shaaribeen
As-Saaffaat 37:47
لَا فِيهَا غَوْلٌۭ وَلَا هُمْ عَنْهَا يُنزَفُونَ47
No bad effect is there in it, nor from it will they be intoxicated.
Laa feehaa ghawlunw wa laa hum 'anhaa yunzafoon
As-Saaffaat 37:48
وَعِندَهُمْ قَٰصِرَٰتُ ٱلطَّرْفِ عِينٌۭ48
And with them will be women limiting [their] glances, with large, [beautiful] eyes,
Wa 'indahum qaasiraatut tarfi 'een
As-Saaffaat 37:49
كَأَنَّهُنَّ بَيْضٌۭ مَّكْنُونٌۭ49
As if they were [delicate] eggs, well-protected.
Ka annahunna baidum maknoon
As-Saaffaat 37:50
فَأَقْبَلَ بَعْضُهُمْ عَلَىٰ بَعْضٍۢ يَتَسَآءَلُونَ50
And they will approach one another, inquiring of each other.
Fa aqbala ba'duhum 'alaa badiny yatasaaa 'aloon
As-Saaffaat 37:51
قَالَ قَآئِلٌۭ مِّنْهُمْ إِنِّى كَانَ لِى قَرِينٌۭ51
A speaker among them will say, "Indeed, I had a companion [on earth]
Qaala qaaa'ilum minhum innee kaana lee qareen
As-Saaffaat 37:52
يَقُولُ أَءِنَّكَ لَمِنَ ٱلْمُصَدِّقِينَ52
Who would say, 'Are you indeed of those who believe
Yaqoolu a'innnaka laminal musaddiqeen
As-Saaffaat 37:53
أَءِذَا مِتْنَا وَكُنَّا تُرَابًۭا وَعِظَٰمًا أَءِنَّا لَمَدِينُونَ53
That when we have died and become dust and bones, we will indeed be recompensed?'"
'A-izaa mitnaa wa kunnaa turaabanw wa 'izaaman 'ainnaa lamadeenoon
As-Saaffaat 37:54
قَالَ هَلْ أَنتُم مُّطَّلِعُونَ54
He will say, "Would you [care to] look?"
Qaala hal antum muttali'oon
As-Saaffaat 37:55
فَٱطَّلَعَ فَرَءَاهُ فِى سَوَآءِ ٱلْجَحِيمِ55
And he will look and see him in the midst of the Hellfire.
Fattala'a fara aahu fee sawaaa'il Jaheem
As-Saaffaat 37:56
قَالَ تَٱللَّهِ إِن كِدتَّ لَتُرْدِينِ56
He will say, "By Allah, you almost ruined me.
Qaala tallaahi in kitta laturdeen
As-Saaffaat 37:57
وَلَوْلَا نِعْمَةُ رَبِّى لَكُنتُ مِنَ ٱلْمُحْضَرِينَ57
If not for the favor of my Lord, I would have been of those brought in [to Hell].
Wa law laa ni'matu Rabbee lakuntu minal muhdareen
As-Saaffaat 37:58
أَفَمَا نَحْنُ بِمَيِّتِينَ58
Then, are we not to die
Afamaa nahnu bimaiyiteen
As-Saaffaat 37:59
إِلَّا مَوْتَتَنَا ٱلْأُولَىٰ وَمَا نَحْنُ بِمُعَذَّبِينَ59
Except for our first death, and we will not be punished?"
Illa mawtatanal oola wa maa nahnu bimu'azzabeen
As-Saaffaat 37:60
إِنَّ هَٰذَا لَهُوَ ٱلْفَوْزُ ٱلْعَظِيمُ60
Indeed, this is the great attainment.
Inna haazaa falya'ma lil'aamiloon
As-Saaffaat 37:61
لِمِثْلِ هَٰذَا فَلْيَعْمَلِ ٱلْعَٰمِلُونَ61
For the like of this let the workers [on earth] work.
Limisli haaza falya'ma lil 'aamiloon
As-Saaffaat 37:62
أَذَٰلِكَ خَيْرٌۭ نُّزُلًا أَمْ شَجَرَةُ ٱلزَّقُّومِ62
Is Paradise a better accommodation or the tree of zaqqum?
Azaalika khairun nuzulan am shajaratuz Zaqqom
As-Saaffaat 37:63
إِنَّا جَعَلْنَٰهَا فِتْنَةًۭ لِّلظَّٰلِمِينَ63
Indeed, We have made it a torment for the wrongdoers.
Innaa ja'alnaahaa fitnatal lizzaalimeen
As-Saaffaat 37:64
إِنَّهَا شَجَرَةٌۭ تَخْرُجُ فِىٓ أَصْلِ ٱلْجَحِيمِ64
Indeed, it is a tree issuing from the bottom of the Hellfire,
Innahaa shajaratun takhruju feee aslil Jaheem
As-Saaffaat 37:65
طَلْعُهَا كَأَنَّهُۥ رُءُوسُ ٱلشَّيَٰطِينِ65
Its emerging fruit as if it was heads of the devils.
Tal'uhaa ka annahoo ru'oosush Shayaateen
As-Saaffaat 37:66
فَإِنَّهُمْ لَءَاكِلُونَ مِنْهَا فَمَالِـُٔونَ مِنْهَا ٱلْبُطُونَ66
And indeed, they will eat from it and fill with it their bellies.
Fa innahum la aakiloona minhaa famaali'oona minhal butoon
As-Saaffaat 37:67
ثُمَّ إِنَّ لَهُمْ عَلَيْهَا لَشَوْبًۭا مِّنْ حَمِيمٍۢ67
Then indeed, they will have after it a mixture of scalding water.
Summa inna lahum 'alaihaa lashawbam min hameem
As-Saaffaat 37:68
ثُمَّ إِنَّ مَرْجِعَهُمْ لَإِلَى ٱلْجَحِيمِ68
Then indeed, their return will be to the Hellfire.
Summa inna marji'ahum la ilal Jaheem
As-Saaffaat 37:69
إِنَّهُمْ أَلْفَوْا۟ ءَابَآءَهُمْ ضَآلِّينَ69
Indeed they found their fathers astray.
Innahum alfaw aabaaa'ahum daaalleen
As-Saaffaat 37:70
فَهُمْ عَلَىٰٓ ءَاثَٰرِهِمْ يُهْرَعُونَ70
So they hastened [to follow] in their footsteps.
Fahum 'alaa aasaarihim yuhra'oon
As-Saaffaat 37:71
وَلَقَدْ ضَلَّ قَبْلَهُمْ أَكْثَرُ ٱلْأَوَّلِينَ71
And there had already strayed before them most of the former peoples,
Wa laqad dalla qablahum aksarul awwaleen
As-Saaffaat 37:72
وَلَقَدْ أَرْسَلْنَا فِيهِم مُّنذِرِينَ72
And We had already sent among them warners.
Wa laqad arsalnaa feehim munzireen
As-Saaffaat 37:73
فَٱنظُرْ كَيْفَ كَانَ عَٰقِبَةُ ٱلْمُنذَرِينَ73
Then look how was the end of those who were warned -
Fanzur kaifa kaana 'aaqibatul munzareen
As-Saaffaat 37:74
إِلَّا عِبَادَ ٱللَّهِ ٱلْمُخْلَصِينَ74
But not the chosen servants of Allah.
Illaa 'ibaadal laahil mukhlaseen
As-Saaffaat 37:75
وَلَقَدْ نَادَىٰنَا نُوحٌۭ فَلَنِعْمَ ٱلْمُجِيبُونَ75
And Noah had certainly called Us, and [We are] the best of responders.
Wa laqad naadaanaa Noohun falani'mal mujeeboon
As-Saaffaat 37:76
وَنَجَّيْنَٰهُ وَأَهْلَهُۥ مِنَ ٱلْكَرْبِ ٱلْعَظِيمِ76
And We saved him and his family from the great affliction.
Wa jajainaahu wa ahlahoo minal karbil 'azeem
As-Saaffaat 37:77
وَجَعَلْنَا ذُرِّيَّتَهُۥ هُمُ ٱلْبَاقِينَ77
And We made his descendants those remaining [on the earth]
Wa ja'alnaa zurriyyatahoo hummul baaqeen
As-Saaffaat 37:78
وَتَرَكْنَا عَلَيْهِ فِى ٱلْءَاخِرِينَ78
And left for him [favorable mention] among later generations:
Wa taraknaa 'alaihi fil aakhireen
As-Saaffaat 37:79
سَلَٰمٌ عَلَىٰ نُوحٍۢ فِى ٱلْعَٰلَمِينَ79
"Peace upon Noah among the worlds."
Salaamun 'alaa Noohin fil 'aalameen
As-Saaffaat 37:80
إِنَّا كَذَٰلِكَ نَجْزِى ٱلْمُحْسِنِينَ80
Indeed, We thus reward the doers of good.
Innaa kazaalika najzil muhsineen
As-Saaffaat 37:81
إِنَّهُۥ مِنْ عِبَادِنَا ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ81
Indeed, he was of Our believing servants.
Innahoo min 'ibaadinal mu'mineen
As-Saaffaat 37:82
ثُمَّ أَغْرَقْنَا ٱلْءَاخَرِينَ82
Then We drowned the disbelievers.
Summa aghraqnal aakhareen
As-Saaffaat 37:83
۞ وَإِنَّ مِن شِيعَتِهِۦ لَإِبْرَٰهِيمَ83
And indeed, among his kind was Abraham,
Wa ina min shee'atihee la Ibraaheem
As-Saaffaat 37:84
إِذْ جَآءَ رَبَّهُۥ بِقَلْبٍۢ سَلِيمٍ84
When he came to his Lord with a sound heart
Iz jaaa'a Rabbahoo bi qalbin saleem
As-Saaffaat 37:85
إِذْ قَالَ لِأَبِيهِ وَقَوْمِهِۦ مَاذَا تَعْبُدُونَ85
[And] when he said to his father and his people, "What do you worship?
Iz qaala li abeehi wa qawmihee maazaa ta'budoon
As-Saaffaat 37:86
أَئِفْكًا ءَالِهَةًۭ دُونَ ٱللَّهِ تُرِيدُونَ86
Is it falsehood [as] gods other than Allah you desire?
A'ifkan aalihatan doonal laahi tureedoon
As-Saaffaat 37:87
فَمَا ظَنُّكُم بِرَبِّ ٱلْعَٰلَمِينَ87
Then what is your thought about the Lord of the worlds?"
Famaa zannukum bi Rabbil'aalameen
As-Saaffaat 37:88
فَنَظَرَ نَظْرَةًۭ فِى ٱلنُّجُومِ88
And he cast a look at the stars
Fanazara nazratan finnujoom
As-Saaffaat 37:89
فَقَالَ إِنِّى سَقِيمٌۭ89
And said, "Indeed, I am [about to be] ill."
Faqaala inee saqeem
As-Saaffaat 37:90
فَتَوَلَّوْا۟ عَنْهُ مُدْبِرِينَ90
So they turned away from him, departing.
Fatawallaw 'anhu mudbireen
As-Saaffaat 37:91
فَرَاغَ إِلَىٰٓ ءَالِهَتِهِمْ فَقَالَ أَلَا تَأْكُلُونَ91
Then he turned to their gods and said, "Do you not eat?
Faraagha ilaaa aalihatihim faqaala alaa taakuloon
As-Saaffaat 37:92
مَا لَكُمْ لَا تَنطِقُونَ92
What is [wrong] with you that you do not speak?"
Maa lakum laa tantiqoon
As-Saaffaat 37:93
فَرَاغَ عَلَيْهِمْ ضَرْبًۢا بِٱلْيَمِينِ93
And he turned upon them a blow with [his] right hand.
Faraagha 'alaihim darbam bilyameen
As-Saaffaat 37:94
فَأَقْبَلُوٓا۟ إِلَيْهِ يَزِفُّونَ94
Then the people came toward him, hastening.
Fa aqbalooo ilaihi yaziffoon
As-Saaffaat 37:95
قَالَ أَتَعْبُدُونَ مَا تَنْحِتُونَ95
He said, "Do you worship that which you [yourselves] carve,
Qaala ata'budoona maa tanhitoon
As-Saaffaat 37:96
وَٱللَّهُ خَلَقَكُمْ وَمَا تَعْمَلُونَ96
While Allah created you and that which you do?"
Wallaahu khalaqakum wa maa ta'maloon
As-Saaffaat 37:97
قَالُوا۟ ٱبْنُوا۟ لَهُۥ بُنْيَٰنًۭا فَأَلْقُوهُ فِى ٱلْجَحِيمِ97
They said, "Construct for him a furnace and throw him into the burning fire."
Qaalub noo lahoo bun yaanan fa alqoohu fil jaheem
As-Saaffaat 37:98
فَأَرَادُوا۟ بِهِۦ كَيْدًۭا فَجَعَلْنَٰهُمُ ٱلْأَسْفَلِينَ98
And they intended for him a plan, but We made them the most debased.
Fa araadoo bihee kaidan faja 'alnaahumul asfaleen
As-Saaffaat 37:99
وَقَالَ إِنِّى ذَاهِبٌ إِلَىٰ رَبِّى سَيَهْدِينِ99
And [then] he said, "Indeed, I will go to [where I am ordered by] my Lord; He will guide me.
Wa qaala innee zaahibun ilaa Rabbee sa yahdeen
As-Saaffaat 37:100
رَبِّ هَبْ لِى مِنَ ٱلصَّٰلِحِينَ100
My Lord, grant me [a child] from among the righteous."
Rabbi hab lee minas saaliheen
As-Saaffaat 37:101
فَبَشَّرْنَٰهُ بِغُلَٰمٍ حَلِيمٍۢ101
So We gave him good tidings of a forbearing boy.
Fabashsharnaahu bighulaamin haleem
As-Saaffaat 37:102
فَلَمَّا بَلَغَ مَعَهُ ٱلسَّعْىَ قَالَ يَٰبُنَىَّ إِنِّىٓ أَرَىٰ فِى ٱلْمَنَامِ أَنِّىٓ أَذْبَحُكَ فَٱنظُرْ مَاذَا تَرَىٰ ۚ قَالَ يَٰٓأَبَتِ ٱفْعَلْ مَا تُؤْمَرُ ۖ سَتَجِدُنِىٓ إِن شَآءَ ٱللَّهُ مِنَ ٱلصَّٰبِرِينَ102
And when he reached with him [the age of] exertion, he said, "O my son, indeed I have seen in a dream that I [must] sacrifice you, so see what you think." He said, "O my father, do as you are commanded. You will find me, if Allah wills, of the steadfast."
Falamma balagha ma'a hus sa'ya qaala yaa buniya inneee araa fil manaami anneee azbahuka fanzur maazaa taraa; qaala yaaa abatif 'al maa tu'maru satajidunee in shaaa'allaahu minas saabireen
As-Saaffaat 37:103
فَلَمَّآ أَسْلَمَا وَتَلَّهُۥ لِلْجَبِينِ103
And when they had both submitted and he put him down upon his forehead,
Falammaaa aslamaa wa tallahoo liljabeen
As-Saaffaat 37:104
وَنَٰدَيْنَٰهُ أَن يَٰٓإِبْرَٰهِيمُ104
We called to him, "O Abraham,
Wa naadainaahu ai yaaaa Ibraheem
As-Saaffaat 37:105
قَدْ صَدَّقْتَ ٱلرُّءْيَآ ۚ إِنَّا كَذَٰلِكَ نَجْزِى ٱلْمُحْسِنِينَ105
You have fulfilled the vision." Indeed, We thus reward the doers of good.
Qad saddaqtar ru'yaa; innaa kazaalika najzil muhsineen
As-Saaffaat 37:106
إِنَّ هَٰذَا لَهُوَ ٱلْبَلَٰٓؤُا۟ ٱلْمُبِينُ106
Indeed, this was the clear trial.
Inna haazaa lahuwal balaaa'ul mubeen
As-Saaffaat 37:107
وَفَدَيْنَٰهُ بِذِبْحٍ عَظِيمٍۢ107
And We ransomed him with a great sacrifice,
Wa fadainaahu bizibhin 'azeem
As-Saaffaat 37:108
وَتَرَكْنَا عَلَيْهِ فِى ٱلْءَاخِرِينَ108
And We left for him [favorable mention] among later generations:
Wa taraknaa 'alaihi fil aakhireen
As-Saaffaat 37:109
سَلَٰمٌ عَلَىٰٓ إِبْرَٰهِيمَ109
"Peace upon Abraham."
Salaamun 'alaaa Ibraaheem
As-Saaffaat 37:110
كَذَٰلِكَ نَجْزِى ٱلْمُحْسِنِينَ110
Indeed, We thus reward the doers of good.
Kazaalika najzil muhsineen
As-Saaffaat 37:111
إِنَّهُۥ مِنْ عِبَادِنَا ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ111
Indeed, he was of Our believing servants.
Innahoo min 'ibaadinal mu'mineen
As-Saaffaat 37:112
وَبَشَّرْنَٰهُ بِإِسْحَٰقَ نَبِيًّۭا مِّنَ ٱلصَّٰلِحِينَ112
And We gave him good tidings of Isaac, a prophet from among the righteous.
Wa bashsharnaahu bi Ishaaqa Nabiyayam minas saaliheen
As-Saaffaat 37:113
وَبَٰرَكْنَا عَلَيْهِ وَعَلَىٰٓ إِسْحَٰقَ ۚ وَمِن ذُرِّيَّتِهِمَا مُحْسِنٌۭ وَظَالِمٌۭ لِّنَفْسِهِۦ مُبِينٌۭ113
And We blessed him and Isaac. But among their descendants is the doer of good and the clearly unjust to himself.
Wa baaraknaa 'alaihi wa 'alaaa Ishaaq; wa min zurriyya tihimaa muhsinunw wa zaalimul linafshihee mubeen
As-Saaffaat 37:114
وَلَقَدْ مَنَنَّا عَلَىٰ مُوسَىٰ وَهَٰرُونَ114
And We did certainly confer favor upon Moses and Aaron.
Wa laqad mananna alaa Moosaa wa Haaroon
As-Saaffaat 37:115
وَنَجَّيْنَٰهُمَا وَقَوْمَهُمَا مِنَ ٱلْكَرْبِ ٱلْعَظِيمِ115
And We saved them and their people from the great affliction,
Wa najjainaahumaa wa qawmahumaa minal karbil 'azeem
As-Saaffaat 37:116
وَنَصَرْنَٰهُمْ فَكَانُوا۟ هُمُ ٱلْغَٰلِبِينَ116
And We supported them so it was they who overcame.
Wa nasarnaahum fakaanoo humul ghaalibeen
As-Saaffaat 37:117
وَءَاتَيْنَٰهُمَا ٱلْكِتَٰبَ ٱلْمُسْتَبِينَ117
And We gave them the explicit Scripture,
Wa aatainaahumal Kitaabal mustabeen
As-Saaffaat 37:118
وَهَدَيْنَٰهُمَا ٱلصِّرَٰطَ ٱلْمُسْتَقِيمَ118
And We guided them on the straight path.
Wa hadainaahumus Siraatal Mustaqeem
As-Saaffaat 37:119
وَتَرَكْنَا عَلَيْهِمَا فِى ٱلْءَاخِرِينَ119
And We left for them [favorable mention] among later generations:
Wa taraknaa 'alaihimaa fil aakhireen
As-Saaffaat 37:120
سَلَٰمٌ عَلَىٰ مُوسَىٰ وَهَٰرُونَ120
"Peace upon Moses and Aaron."
Salaamun 'alaa Moosaa wa Haaroon
As-Saaffaat 37:121
إِنَّا كَذَٰلِكَ نَجْزِى ٱلْمُحْسِنِينَ121
Indeed, We thus reward the doers of good.
Innaa kazaalika najzil muhsineen
As-Saaffaat 37:122
إِنَّهُمَا مِنْ عِبَادِنَا ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ122
Indeed, they were of Our believing servants.
Innahumaa min 'ibaadinal mu'mineen
As-Saaffaat 37:123
وَإِنَّ إِلْيَاسَ لَمِنَ ٱلْمُرْسَلِينَ123
And indeed, Elias was from among the messengers,
Wa inna Ilyaasa laminal mursaleen
As-Saaffaat 37:124
إِذْ قَالَ لِقَوْمِهِۦٓ أَلَا تَتَّقُونَ124
When he said to his people, "Will you not fear Allah?
Iz qaala liqawmiheee alaa tattaqoon
As-Saaffaat 37:125
أَتَدْعُونَ بَعْلًۭا وَتَذَرُونَ أَحْسَنَ ٱلْخَٰلِقِينَ125
Do you call upon Ba'l and leave the best of creators -
Atad'oona Ba'lanw wa tazaroona ahsanal khaaliqeen
As-Saaffaat 37:126
ٱللَّهَ رَبَّكُمْ وَرَبَّ ءَابَآئِكُمُ ٱلْأَوَّلِينَ126
Allah, your Lord and the Lord of your first forefathers?"
Allaaha Rabbakum wa Rabba aabaaa'ikumul awwaleen
As-Saaffaat 37:127
فَكَذَّبُوهُ فَإِنَّهُمْ لَمُحْضَرُونَ127
And they denied him, so indeed, they will be brought [for punishment],
Fakazzaboohu fa inna hum lamuhdaroon
As-Saaffaat 37:128
إِلَّا عِبَادَ ٱللَّهِ ٱلْمُخْلَصِينَ128
Except the chosen servants of Allah.
Illaa 'ibaadal laahil mukhlaseen
As-Saaffaat 37:129
وَتَرَكْنَا عَلَيْهِ فِى ٱلْءَاخِرِينَ129
And We left for him [favorable mention] among later generations:
Wa taraknaa 'alaihi fil aakhireen
As-Saaffaat 37:130
سَلَٰمٌ عَلَىٰٓ إِلْ يَاسِينَ130
"Peace upon Elias."
Salaamun 'alaaa Ilyaaseen
As-Saaffaat 37:131
إِنَّا كَذَٰلِكَ نَجْزِى ٱلْمُحْسِنِينَ131
Indeed, We thus reward the doers of good.
Innaa kazaalika najzil muhsineen
As-Saaffaat 37:132
إِنَّهُۥ مِنْ عِبَادِنَا ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ132
Indeed, he was of Our believing servants.
Innahoo min 'ibaadinal mu'mineen
As-Saaffaat 37:133
وَإِنَّ لُوطًۭا لَّمِنَ ٱلْمُرْسَلِينَ133
And indeed, Lot was among the messengers.
Wa inna Lootal laminal mursaleen
As-Saaffaat 37:134
إِذْ نَجَّيْنَٰهُ وَأَهْلَهُۥٓ أَجْمَعِينَ134
[So mention] when We saved him and his family, all,
Iz najjainaahu wa ahlahooo ajma'een
As-Saaffaat 37:135
إِلَّا عَجُوزًۭا فِى ٱلْغَٰبِرِينَ135
Except his wife among those who remained [with the evildoers].
Illaa 'ajoozan fil ghaabireen
As-Saaffaat 37:136
ثُمَّ دَمَّرْنَا ٱلْءَاخَرِينَ136
Then We destroyed the others.
Summa dammarnal aakhareen
As-Saaffaat 37:137
وَإِنَّكُمْ لَتَمُرُّونَ عَلَيْهِم مُّصْبِحِينَ137
And indeed, you pass by them in the morning
Wa innakum latamurroona 'alaihim musbiheen
As-Saaffaat 37:138
وَبِٱلَّيْلِ ۗ أَفَلَا تَعْقِلُونَ138
And at night. Then will you not use reason?
Wa billail; afalaa ta'qiloon
As-Saaffaat 37:139
وَإِنَّ يُونُسَ لَمِنَ ٱلْمُرْسَلِينَ139
And indeed, Jonah was among the messengers.
Wa inna Yoonusa laminal mursaleen
As-Saaffaat 37:140
إِذْ أَبَقَ إِلَى ٱلْفُلْكِ ٱلْمَشْحُونِ140
[Mention] when he ran away to the laden ship.
Iz abaqa ilal fulkil mash hoon
As-Saaffaat 37:141
فَسَاهَمَ فَكَانَ مِنَ ٱلْمُدْحَضِينَ141
And he drew lots and was among the losers.
Fasaahama fakaana minal mudhadeen
As-Saaffaat 37:142
فَٱلْتَقَمَهُ ٱلْحُوتُ وَهُوَ مُلِيمٌۭ142
Then the fish swallowed him, while he was blameworthy.
Faltaqamahul hootu wa huwa muleem
As-Saaffaat 37:143
فَلَوْلَآ أَنَّهُۥ كَانَ مِنَ ٱلْمُسَبِّحِينَ143
And had he not been of those who exalt Allah,
Falaw laaa annahoo kaana minal musabbiheen
As-Saaffaat 37:144
لَلَبِثَ فِى بَطْنِهِۦٓ إِلَىٰ يَوْمِ يُبْعَثُونَ144
He would have remained inside its belly until the Day they are resurrected.
Lalabisa fee batniheee ilaa Yawmi yub'asoon
As-Saaffaat 37:145
۞ فَنَبَذْنَٰهُ بِٱلْعَرَآءِ وَهُوَ سَقِيمٌۭ145
But We threw him onto the open shore while he was ill.
Fanabaznaahu bil'araaa'i wa huwa saqeem
As-Saaffaat 37:146
وَأَنۢبَتْنَا عَلَيْهِ شَجَرَةًۭ مِّن يَقْطِينٍۢ146
And We caused to grow over him a gourd vine.
Wa ambatnaa 'alaihi shajaratam mai yaqteen
As-Saaffaat 37:147
وَأَرْسَلْنَٰهُ إِلَىٰ مِا۟ئَةِ أَلْفٍ أَوْ يَزِيدُونَ147
And We sent him to [his people of] a hundred thousand or more.
Wa arsalnaahu ilaa mi'ati alfin aw yazeedoon
As-Saaffaat 37:148
فَـَٔامَنُوا۟ فَمَتَّعْنَٰهُمْ إِلَىٰ حِينٍۢ148
And they believed, so We gave them enjoyment [of life] for a time.
Fa aamanoo famatta' naahum ilaa heen
As-Saaffaat 37:149
فَٱسْتَفْتِهِمْ أَلِرَبِّكَ ٱلْبَنَاتُ وَلَهُمُ ٱلْبَنُونَ149
So inquire of them, [O Muhammad], "Does your Lord have daughters while they have sons?
Fastaftihim ali Rabbikal banaatu wa lahumul banoon
As-Saaffaat 37:150
أَمْ خَلَقْنَا ٱلْمَلَٰٓئِكَةَ إِنَٰثًۭا وَهُمْ شَٰهِدُونَ150
Or did We create the angels as females while they were witnesses?"
Am khalaqnal malaaa'i kata inaasanw wa hm shaahidoon
As-Saaffaat 37:151
أَلَآ إِنَّهُم مِّنْ إِفْكِهِمْ لَيَقُولُونَ151
Unquestionably, it is out of their [invented] falsehood that they say,
Alaaa innahum min ifkihim la yaqooloon
As-Saaffaat 37:152
وَلَدَ ٱللَّهُ وَإِنَّهُمْ لَكَٰذِبُونَ152
" Allah has begotten," and indeed, they are liars.
Waladal laahu wa innhum lakaaziboon
As-Saaffaat 37:153
أَصْطَفَى ٱلْبَنَاتِ عَلَى ٱلْبَنِينَ153
Has He chosen daughters over sons?
Astafal banaati 'alal baneen
As-Saaffaat 37:154
مَا لَكُمْ كَيْفَ تَحْكُمُونَ154
What is [wrong] with you? How do you make judgement?
Maa lakum kaifa tahkumoon
As-Saaffaat 37:155
أَفَلَا تَذَكَّرُونَ155
Then will you not be reminded?
Afalaa tazakkaroon
As-Saaffaat 37:156
أَمْ لَكُمْ سُلْطَٰنٌۭ مُّبِينٌۭ156
Or do you have a clear authority?
Am lakum sultaanum mubeen
As-Saaffaat 37:157
فَأْتُوا۟ بِكِتَٰبِكُمْ إِن كُنتُمْ صَٰدِقِينَ157
Then produce your scripture, if you should be truthful.
Faatoo bi Kitaabikum in kuntum saadiqeen
As-Saaffaat 37:158
وَجَعَلُوا۟ بَيْنَهُۥ وَبَيْنَ ٱلْجِنَّةِ نَسَبًۭا ۚ وَلَقَدْ عَلِمَتِ ٱلْجِنَّةُ إِنَّهُمْ لَمُحْضَرُونَ158
And they have claimed between Him and the jinn a lineage, but the jinn have already known that they [who made such claims] will be brought to [punishment].
Wa ja'aloo bainahoo wa bainal jinnati nasabaa; wa laqad 'alimatil jinnatu innahum lamuhdaroon
As-Saaffaat 37:159
سُبْحَٰنَ ٱللَّهِ عَمَّا يَصِفُونَ159
Exalted is Allah above what they describe,
Subhaanal laahi 'ammaa yasifoon
As-Saaffaat 37:160
إِلَّا عِبَادَ ٱللَّهِ ٱلْمُخْلَصِينَ160
Except the chosen servants of Allah [who do not share in that sin].
Illaa 'ibaadal laahil mukhlaseen
As-Saaffaat 37:161
فَإِنَّكُمْ وَمَا تَعْبُدُونَ161
So indeed, you [disbelievers] and whatever you worship,
Fa innakum wa maa ta'ubdoon
As-Saaffaat 37:162
مَآ أَنتُمْ عَلَيْهِ بِفَٰتِنِينَ162
You cannot tempt [anyone] away from Him
Maaa antum 'alaihi befaaatineen
As-Saaffaat 37:163
إِلَّا مَنْ هُوَ صَالِ ٱلْجَحِيمِ163
Except he who is to [enter and] burn in the Hellfire.
Illaa man huwa saalil jaheem
As-Saaffaat 37:164
وَمَا مِنَّآ إِلَّا لَهُۥ مَقَامٌۭ مَّعْلُومٌۭ164
[The angels say], "There is not among us any except that he has a known position.
Wa maa minnasa illaa lahoo maqaamum ma'loom
As-Saaffaat 37:165
وَإِنَّا لَنَحْنُ ٱلصَّآفُّونَ165
And indeed, we are those who line up [for prayer].
Wa innaa llanah nus saaffoon
As-Saaffaat 37:166
وَإِنَّا لَنَحْنُ ٱلْمُسَبِّحُونَ166
And indeed, we are those who exalt Allah."
Wa innaa lanah nul musabbihoon
As-Saaffaat 37:167
وَإِن كَانُوا۟ لَيَقُولُونَ167
And indeed, the disbelievers used to say,
Wa in kaanoo la yaqooloon
As-Saaffaat 37:168
لَوْ أَنَّ عِندَنَا ذِكْرًۭا مِّنَ ٱلْأَوَّلِينَ168
"If we had a message from [those of] the former peoples,
Law anna 'indana zikram minal awwaleen
As-Saaffaat 37:169
لَكُنَّا عِبَادَ ٱللَّهِ ٱلْمُخْلَصِينَ169
We would have been the chosen servants of Allah."
Lakunna 'ibaadal laahil mukhlaseen
As-Saaffaat 37:170
فَكَفَرُوا۟ بِهِۦ ۖ فَسَوْفَ يَعْلَمُونَ170
But they disbelieved in it, so they are going to know.
Fakafaroo bihee fasawfa ya'lamoon
As-Saaffaat 37:171
وَلَقَدْ سَبَقَتْ كَلِمَتُنَا لِعِبَادِنَا ٱلْمُرْسَلِينَ171
And Our word has already preceded for Our servants, the messengers,
Wa laqad sabaqat Kalimatunaa li'ibaadinal mursa leen
As-Saaffaat 37:172
إِنَّهُمْ لَهُمُ ٱلْمَنصُورُونَ172
[That] indeed, they would be those given victory
Innaa hum lahumul mansooroon
As-Saaffaat 37:173
وَإِنَّ جُندَنَا لَهُمُ ٱلْغَٰلِبُونَ173
And [that] indeed, Our soldiers will be those who overcome.
Wa inna jundana lahumul ghaaliboon
As-Saaffaat 37:174
فَتَوَلَّ عَنْهُمْ حَتَّىٰ حِينٍۢ174
So, [O Muhammad], leave them for a time.
Fatawalla 'anhum hatta heen
As-Saaffaat 37:175
وَأَبْصِرْهُمْ فَسَوْفَ يُبْصِرُونَ175
And see [what will befall] them, for they are going to see.
Wa absirhum fasawfa yubsiroon
As-Saaffaat 37:176
أَفَبِعَذَابِنَا يَسْتَعْجِلُونَ176
Then for Our punishment are they impatient?
Afabi'azaabinaa yasta'jiloon
As-Saaffaat 37:177
فَإِذَا نَزَلَ بِسَاحَتِهِمْ فَسَآءَ صَبَاحُ ٱلْمُنذَرِينَ177
But when it descends in their territory, then evil is the morning of those who were warned.
Fa izaa nazala bisaahatihim fasaaa'a sabaahul munzareen
As-Saaffaat 37:178
وَتَوَلَّ عَنْهُمْ حَتَّىٰ حِينٍۢ178
And leave them for a time.
Wa tawalla 'anhum hattaa heen
As-Saaffaat 37:179
وَأَبْصِرْ فَسَوْفَ يُبْصِرُونَ179
And see, for they are going to see.
Wa absir fasawfa yubsiroon
As-Saaffaat 37:180
سُبْحَٰنَ رَبِّكَ رَبِّ ٱلْعِزَّةِ عَمَّا يَصِفُونَ180
Exalted is your Lord, the Lord of might, above what they describe.
Subhaana Rabbika Rabbil 'izzati 'amma yasifoon
As-Saaffaat 37:181
وَسَلَٰمٌ عَلَى ٱلْمُرْسَلِينَ181
And peace upon the messengers.
Wa salaamun 'alalmursaleen
As-Saaffaat 37:182
وَٱلْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ رَبِّ ٱلْعَٰلَمِينَ182
And praise to Allah, Lord of the worlds.
Walhamdu lillaahi Rabbil 'aalameen
